2008 The Referènce - (Cuvee Bordeaux Blend) - $150.00 This is a riper, fuller and darker wine than the previous vintage, beginning with aromas of cassis and vanilla, that lead to flavours of cassis, black cherry, dark chocolate, vanilla and coffee. The texture is still firm, but not hard, and the wine certainly is age worthy. There is a very long finish with notes of cedar and spice. “John Schreiner”
2007 The Referènce - (Cuvee Bordeaux Blend) - $99.00 Our finest Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, and Petit Verdot grapes were selected and cool fermented separately to create this balanced and age worthy Bordeaux-style blend. New French barriques with extra tight grain were used for the first year and the wine spent its final year in Allier, Nevers, Jupille, and Troncais forest puncheons that allowed reduction of the wine while maintaining its fragrant fruit and complex spice character. Over 80% free run juice gives the Referènce fine-grained natural tannins that result in extraordinary length of finish. Look for dark cherry, plums, cassis, chocolate, cigar box and cedar aromas with high notes of figs currants and spice. Approachable now but has the acidity and structure to enjoy for the next two decades.
2008 Alliànce - (Our signature Bordeaux Blend) - $69.00 A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc, this is Blackwood Lane’s Signature wine. Full-bodied, complex and very juicy, with a cornucopia of flavours and aromas that make it a delightful sipping or food pairing wine. Aromas of spiced cherries, raspberry, cassis, violets, sweet oak, wet stone and cocoa. Bright, rich flavours of cherry, raspberry, graphite and cassis, with a strong mid-palate and an extra-long finish of cherries with a hint of cocoa.
2010 Merlot - $44.00 Fragrant and savoury nose of violets, chocolate, black plums and raspberries. Full mouth feel, strong flavours of plum, raspberry, blackberry and sweet oak. Long, rich finish, good tannins.
2010 Cabernet Franc - $44.00 Warm musky aromas of sweet oak, vanilla, spiced red plums and raspberries with high notes of marzipan. Spicy front palate leading to medium-bodied fruit flavours of currants, and red plums, with a long nutty raspberry finish.
2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Canadian Port - $68.00 Our best Cabernet Sauvignon went into making this amazing Canadian Port. Using only our finest Brandy and barrel aged for 3 years, this fortified vintage style port is ready to drink now but it will continue to develop over the next decade. Look for a rich nose of blackberries and currants, orange marmalade, dried cherries, black liquorice, smooth full mouth feel and amazing finish.
